Home funeral arranging

Home funeral arrangements is an extension of our excellent service.  Traditionally, families are requested to travel to funeral homes for arrangements to be made.

Grobbelaars & Church Funeral Services offers the convenience of having arrangements done in the privacy your own home, at no additional cost.  This service is provided to the whole of the greater Pretoria area.

Our consultants are equipped with all the necessary materials, including coffin samples, wood samples, flower books, hymn sheets, and all the necessary documentation needed for both burials and cremations.

A Practical guide for funeral arrangements

When a death occurs in the family there are many unfamiliar tasks to be carried out.

Although this website is not a substitute for discussing arrangements with a funeral director or pre-planning consultant, we trust that it will provide answers to some of the questions which you may have.
Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our consultants at 012 329 3682/3/4 or 012 348 5556.

What to do when a death occurs

If a person dies at home, call your family doctor. The doctor will issue a medical certificate stating the cause of death. If a person dies at a hospital, the attending doctor will issue the medical certificate.

If a person dies of unnatural causes, this must be reported to the police. The deceased will be removed by them and taken to the government mortuary.  A medical certificate will only be issued once an autopsy has been performed to determine the cause of death.  Once the medical certificate has been issued and the family has identified the deceased, the deceased can be released to us.

Our staff is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and therefore if the death occurs outside normal business hours, we will be at your service.  We will contact you the following morning to arrange for a convenient time and place to make funeral arrangements.

Traditionally, funeral arrangements are done at the funeral home. Grobbelaars & Church Funeral Services, however, offers the service of doing this in the privacy of your own home.  It is usually worth your while to meet with members of your family and your minister to make certain tentative decisions before you meet with us.
